New Year's Eve

May old acquaintance be forgot, and all my dumb mistakes.

This New Year's Eve we invited several of my husband's friends from the army. Our plan was to play Guitar Hero and some other games. We bought snacks, no alcohol as we don't drink and no poppers or noise makers, because I forgot. As you can imagine the turnout was very low for our festivities.

After exhuming some crystal from our wedding we decided to have an apple juice toast to ring in the new year. The low turn-out was not going to take us out of the party mode. We ate, we laughed, we drank the good drink and shared a midnight kiss.

We joined in the neighborhood noise making by taking the dogs out to hear all of the noise. The next-door neighbors came out also. Though it would have been fun to talk to them longer, we ran inside to get out of the new-fallen rain.

Point Defiance Gardens and Old Growth Forest

Back in September Sean and I went to the Point Defiance Park to check it out and found a garden full of beauty. We have a bad habit, which we are working on, of not bringing our camera. The sun was fading out over the ocean and we were trying to capture it all with our camera phones. We had a great time though we missed a lot before the sun was down.

It's not that we had never seen flowers, but there were roses, hydrangeas and dahlias in technicolor from all over the world. The photos(remember they are from my cell phone) do not do them justice. Yeah, there were no black dahlias, for those of you who would surely ask.

It was a perfect day. It was dry, that in itself was great. The weather was nice and there were no bugs. Point defiance is an old lookout from days of war, and looks out over the Puget Sound. It is a beautiful spot with a nice drive, the gardens of course and a zoo. This spring we will go back, I am sure we will go there a lot in the warm weather.

5. Febreeze has found a way to keep your junk smelling great (the over-the-door shoe holder is great for gloves, scarves, hats, etc.)

6. Coke Zero

7. My husband has a PMS phobia

8. There are good people everywhere

9. A good chiropractor is hard to find

10. Make sure you have someone to drive you to the chiropractor if you ever happen to sleep wrong.

Poulsbo

My husbands' children (can I call them that when they are nearing adulthood at light speed) are in town for the holiday. The dogs are loving the attention. We have had a lot of fun with them, though it feels like I haven't had a day off. We have been running and running since they got here, trying to cram 6 months of activities into a week. They are a joy to be around and though the activities are fun I look forward to tomorrow, Sunday, our day of rest.

Today the girls were very tired. We finally woke them up around 11:30 a.m. Around 2:00 p.m. we took off for Poulsbo. Poulsbo is a city inside the Puget Sound, right off the water, ocean water. The city was designed in Norwegian style. There are a lot of little souvenir shops, a candy shop with sea foam (a molasses candy covered in chocolate).

My favorite is Sluy's Bakery (prononced sly), they have delicious baked treats.

Tho whole town is so cute, and there is a path near the water that is nice even in December.

The World is My Wonderland

Being a normal person travelling is sometimes spendy, so my husband and I got creative and he joined the army.

Next month we are headed to Washington. Every place I go brings new people, beauty and adventures, and moving gives me the opportunity to simplify.

What's in it for my husband? Me, and he gets to go new places too.
